Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a wide array of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in power within the city.
Heads-up: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The latest chapter concluded with a major cliffhanger and introduced the premier party of heroes who will separate from the central cast to begin their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.
This warrior group features the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
With 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the events of episode 3 show why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the party knows exactly where to head next after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose death started the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, attacking the character, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the urban center, with Cyd pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each adventurer has a individual motive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- The adventurer knows Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous place.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- But, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could assist the team reach locations they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The fighter swore a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the family.
This results in them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in search of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
From the latest episode’s follow-up content, we discover that the warrior group will not appear next week, leaving the other eight participants to round up the Explorers and Planners parties.
